For maths we have been learning Geometry, Symmetry, Reflect (Flipping), Translation (Sliding) and Rotation (Turning). My partner and I made this pattern with some koru pictures. We coloured them in and put them in a mirror line made by folding the paper.

To Smoke Or Not To Smoke
Did you know every smoke you have will make your life 11 minutes shorter?
Over 5,000 New Zealanders die from smoking each year.
I think it is scary because some teens only smoke because they think they will get skinnier and others smoke because their friends have given them one so they start and then they can not stop.
Smoking can get really serious. I have got one thing to say, stop before you start. Instead of getting skinnier you only get lung cancer which you can die from.
Almost 15 billion cigarettes are smoked world wide every day and we all want this to go down so less cigarettes are smoked each day. Pretty much 90% of adult smokers started when they were kids.
Why you do not want to smoke? One reason is because it is poisonous. Each cigarette has a lot of poisonous chemicals which taste horrible. Your body tries to get rid of the poison by making you feel sick.
I know you are thinking if it tastes really bad why don’t they stop?
It’s very hard to stop smoking!
One of the chemicals in cigarettes is called nicotine. Nicotine is a very addictive drug which makes it hard to stop smoking. When you are smoking the levels of nicotine in your body starts to drop which makes you want another one.
Smoking also kills!
Smoking damages your lungs which makes it harder for you to run and play sports with your friends. It also makes you more likely to catch coughs and colds or suffer with asthma.
Worst of all, smoking increases your chances of getting cancer and other horrible diseases which can kill you.
Before I finish this speech I just want to say,“Stop before you start and if you have started stop now and call someone to help you through it.
Thank you

Holiday Activities
2 July 2015
Dear Mum and Dad,
I am so happy about the holidays It would be great if we did one of these AWESOME activities .
It would be so much easier to go to the maze because you don’t have to pay as much money as normal because one day Connor got player of the day (well no, that isn't true, we were walking back to the car from the soccer game and a player of the day voucher fell out of someone’s bag so we picked it up) but it is still here today for us to use.
If we can’t I would love if we could do arts and crafts. It would be fun and for my birthday last year I got an art spinny thingy where you squirty paint when the base is spinning. Then you get the paint and tip it on the base while it’s spinning and it looks really cool after you are done.
I just really hope we could both but most probably not but if I could choose I would choose the maze. Hey, we still have the player of the day to use.
With love,
Sally

ANZAC DISCOVERIES - Women at War
What Did Women Do In The War?
Some of the women worked as nurses and some of them had mens jobs when they were at war; like women needed to drive a train, be a land girl (a farmer) work at shops, offices and be plumbers. They sometimes worked at factories that made helpful things for the war i.e. parachutes, munitions and uniforms.
No matter how long they worked women didn't get as much money as the men!
In my opinion I don't think this was very fair because the women worked way more harder and they got less money for the same job.
